The Traveling Fedora: Shanghai 2010, HK 2012

My dearest cousin recently borrowed my gray fedora to bring to HK for their family trip. I realized then that I also brought that same fedora to Shanghai way back in 2010 and even thought that I carried it to SG that same year. Unfortunately, it was only a guest fedora that was featured in my SG trip. Nevertheless, the traveling fedora series was born. And we promised to bring it everywhere from now on. But before that, let us document where it has been so far: (MM not counted for obvious reasons.)

*edit: I realize I have to take better photos with the traveling fedora that shows the actual location... note to self...

Dash: MTLA Candaba Field Trip

The Scavs and I went looking for something to do way back when (in 2009) other than go to class and all our work. Yeah, like we weren't already super busy that we just had to join this student contest design thing featuring the Candaba Wetlands. Needless to say, we weren't able to submit the final boards. And these photos, aside from establishing our friendship, are all we got to show for joining. Not a bad trade-off for the friendship. I don't know if I can say the same thing for my photos as they told me then that I am really lazy at taking pictures. And that I really should hold the camera upright in either portrait or landscape. (And no diagonal shots!)

But I couldn't help myself. I loved those diagonal shots. And this is the way I take pictures. Even up to now. (Photos after the break.)

39th PRC Awards Night

Scheduled post. Quite delayed.

A few weeks ago I was able to attend the 39th PRC Awards Night for the 2012 Outstanding Professionals and Outstanding Professional Organizations at the Manila Hotel. Our outgoing Chapter President couldn't make it to the event so I was tasked with the duty of accompanying UAP's outgoing National President in meeting Shamcey who was one of the hosts of that night.

While waiting for around 2 hours, I had the privilege of getting to know NP even just a bit and I was able to gain some insight on what it was like to be the UAP National President. To my friend(s) who would someday want to be one (yes, you know who you are), being the NP is no easy task. I believe it is meant only for those who have the heart to serve (and with plenty of time).

To our outgoing NP, another award that night would have been the icing on top of the cake. But service rendered well is like cheesecake - an advocacy fulfilled that by itself is more than enough. I salute you Sir! See you at the golf course!

Let the pictures that Glenn and Dax took do the talking. As always, I was too lazy to take pics. Which is an all-time low for me now considering the fact that I don't like getting my picture taken anymore. So I'm not in front or behind the camera... Now, where would I be then?

And that's it for UAP TSC FY 2011-2012. We won Area A Best Chapter, National Best Chapter, and finally, District A3's Model Chapter.

Here's an excerpt from the justification letter I wrote on UAP TSC for Model Chapter -
A Thanksgiving Party for the FY 2011-2012 will be held on May 31. In special awards and citations as a Chapter and for the individual brilliance of its members, TSC was consistently recognized throughout the year. It is without doubt that Arch. Shamcey Supsup’s personal achievement marks a milestone for the profession. Licensure Examination for Architecture Board Topnotchers continue to bring pride and serve as testament to the discipline and privilege of the practice. Awardees for invaluable service to the National organization, accredited professionals in various design and regulation commissions, and finalists in design competitions and sportsfests further add to the roster of TSC members. But what remains UAP TSC’s most stellar achievement, and perhaps what it is most thankful for, is that the United Architects of the Philippines Tandang Sora Chapter has served its purpose well as a professional organization for yet another year.

And with that, I am no longer the chapter secretary. All that's left is that promised website and my IAPOA renewal.
